Due to working with it all his life, Suga 'smells' like night glowstone: a rock from his canon with magical properties. It doesn't repel nonviolent spirits, but it's extremely unpleasant to spirits with ill or violent intentions - there's a reason his protective charms and his sword are both made out of it. So if your character is a spirit, ghost, or otherwise innately magical person, they're free to smell something weird about him!
